About Karis

Karis is a qualified Life Coach from the University of East London. She is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology under the tuition of fully trained, qualified and ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited professional coaches.

She is an evidence-based coach meaning all of her approaches are grounded in proven science and draws from empirical research, theory, coaching standards and best practices. Supporting this, her work is externally supervised by an independent Supervisor. As a member of European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), following their professional guidelines, she ensures that her knowledge is continually kept up to date.

Karis became intrigued about people and what got them to their current place from a very early age. She was a carer for her Mum from age 6 and lived through what a family goes through with that journey. Being brought up mostly by her Dad, whom spent his early years as a monk, caring for others became a core life value from an early age.

She became further immersed into the world of helping others through training to be a teacher and advancing to become a behaviour specialist. She worked with young people, who found life challenging, for over 4 years. Mentoring and coaching to increase self-esteem, self-worth, wellbeing, optimism, resilience and hope.

Karis has worked all around the world with a range of people in various job roles and industries. Fifteen years as a primary school teacher, 7 years in the TV and Film industry, and performing as a trick rider artist for the last 15 years. Life has never been boring and her sense of adventure found her working in a nickel mine in Australia, performing in the first Rodeo in the middle east, and navigating Guatemala and Belize with a group of 18 year olds as an Assistant Leader.

Always with an undercurrent of mentoring and coaching.

Karis’ life has always been full of ‘privileged conversations’ where people have found her approachable and able to listen. The recent years have seen Karis work with performers, TV and film crew and elite athletes where work environments are often high pressured, judgemental and tiring. As a result, human emotions are often amplified.

She knows just how powerful limiting beliefs are, the deep effect they have and how people often feel the need to hide their internal challenges.

It was this journey that led her to study for the Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology.

After taking care of both her parents at their end of life, in close proximity to each other, Karis has a clear intention of making the most of her time here and, through coaching, helping others to do the same.
